As a Medieval Engineer you may get a sudden sense of adventure. Well lucky for you there is plenty of treasure just waiting to be found!

The only problem being, the treasure maps have been lost and torn into pieces to try to protect their location and spoils. Each treasure map has been broken up into four different pieces that can be combined to make one of the treasure maps that will guide you to either the ultimate treasure or a pile of junk.

After collecting [[Treasure Map Piece, 1 of 4]], [[Treasure Map Piece, 2 of 4]], [[Treasure Map Piece, 3 of 4]], and [[Treasure Map Piece, 4 of 4]] they can all be '''''combined within you inventory''''' to form one of the three treasure map. These treasure map pieces are generally found from the larger pile of small stones.

There are actually three different treasure maps waiting to be put together. The [[Journeyman's Treasure Map]], the [[Scribe's Treasure Map]] and the [[Trader's Treasure Map]].

There are rumors that say there may even be the rare long lost [[Flanged Iron Mace With Engravings]] buried somewhere, if your determined enough to find it!

Upon the 0.5 update of Medieval Engineers there was the introduction of possibly the most powerful tool to be introduced into the game, the shovel.

There are two different variations of the shovel, being the {{Small_Image_Link|WoodenShovel.png|Wooden Shovel}} and the {{Small_Image_Link|IronShovel.png|Iron Shovel}} used to move {{Small_Image_Link|DirtBag.png|Dirt}} around. The wooden being easily obtained and the iron lasting much longer. There is also the introduction of the {{Small_Image_Link|LandscapingStake.png|Landscape Stake}}, which is a small stake that is placed down and tied together with the {{Small_Image_Link|BasicRope.png|Basic Rope}}. If you are unsure if you know that knowledge to make these items yet then simply check the {{Small_Image_Link|Medieval Engineers Research Tree.png|Medieval Engineers Research Tree}}.

An example of the terrain shaping method using the Landscape stakes is shown below.

==Example==
First, start by finding a good location that needs to be modified.

[[File:Terraform1.jpg|500px]]

Then prepare the land by placing the Landscape Stakes down.

''If there is a large volume needing to be filled in below the desired area it may be a good idea to try to place some of it before connecting the Landscape Stakes.''

[[File:Terraform2.jpg|500px|Staking off the area]]

Connect all the Stakes with rope. Each enclosed area must have three or four sides only (triangle or square). When an area is properly created and a shovel tool is equipped the area inside the ropes should be highlighted. This will indicate the flat level you wish to create. Allowing for any dirt above this level to be lowered to the height of the highlight and any dirt lower to be raised to the height of the highlight.

[[File:Terraform3.jpg|500px|Confirming the area]]

Now just simply remove dirt or have dirt in your inventory and place dirt while within the highlighted area.

[[File:Terraform4.jpg|500px|Filling it all in]]

Finally, once all the dirt matches the height designated, it's now time to test the ramp or lose your cart while it rolls away...

[[File:Terraform5.jpg|500px|Testing the Ramp]]

The Landscape Stake and Shovels can be used to shape the land and mold it to your will. To allow the creation of nice flat farm, better housing plots, even make your own roads* and so much more. The possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.

''<nowiki>*</nowiki>Note: These roads will not show on the world map but can be made to look just like real roads.''

{{Stub}}
After spending long hours of [[Simple Farming]] you probably have grown weary of all the manual labor. There are easier and better methods of farming if the right knowledge has been acquired.

Mechanized farming is an advance schematic within the {{Small_Image_Link|Medieval Engineers Research Tree.png|Medieval Engineers Research Tree}}. Which upon unlocking mechanized farming there becomes available a couple new blocks to make the farming life easier. There is the {{Small_Image_Link|PlowBlock.png|Plow}}, the {{Small_Image_Link|SeederBlock.png|Seeder}} and the {{Small_Image_Link|HarvesterBlock.png|Harvester}} that can be used along side [[Engineering]] to help make farming a lot easier.

''Note:The growth time of crops are not effected by this method of farming and are still the same as listed on [[Simple Farming]].''
==Mechanized Farming==
After learning [[Simple Farming]] along with some [[Engineering]] there is an endless amount of possibilities on how to mechanize farming.

This is an example of stationary circular farming equipment with all three of the mechanized farming tools built into it.

[[File:MechFarm1.png]]

This device only needs to be pushed or pulled to use any of the three devices. The {{Small_Image_Link|PlowBlock.png|Plow}} requires activation before use and the {{Small_Image_Link|SeederBlock.png|Seeder}} requires seeds of which crop you wish to plant.

After deativating the {{Small_Image_Link|PlowBlock.png|Plow}} and filling the {{Small_Image_Link|SeederBlock.png|Seeder}} , the equipment can now be used to plant the crops.

Looking something similar to this:

[[File:MechFarm2.png]]

Now the crops are fully grown.

Should now look something similar to this:

[[File:MechFarm3.png]]

Its now time to simply use the {{Small_Image_Link|HarvesterBlock.png|Harvester}} to collect all the crops. Which will result in the field possibly needing to be plowed again if the field gets dry.

Now its as simple as repeating the process to obtain your crops in a more effective and efficient method.

==Basic Farming==
After finding the perfect location to farm on or making your own by [[Terrain Shaping]], it is time to start actually farming.

Start by using the [[Hand Plow]] for tilling the land and it should look something similar to this:

[[File:Tilled.png]]

Now that the land is tilled, it is time to pick which crops you wish to plant. You need to of course first turn the raw crops found from the wild into seed bags.

To obtain the seed bags you must first [[:Category:Research|Research]] farming from the {{Small_Image_Link|Medieval Engineers Research Tree.png|Medieval Engineers Research Tree}}.

After obtaining the seed bags you want to plant, simply take them to your tilled farmland and put them on your action bar and click to plant them. It should now look similar to this:

[[File:Crop1.png]]

When first planted, crops are considered in their "sapling" state and will move into their "young" state before becoming fully grown.

After all your hard effort and waiting your crops will finally be full grown. Looking something similar to this:

[[File:Crop2.png]]

Congratulations! You should now have a full harvest of crops after waiting the full growth timer of each crop as indicated above.

Now if you grow weary after all those long hours of working the fields then it may be time to consider [[Mechanized Farming]].
[[File:Crop2.png]]
Congratulations! You should now have a full harvest of crops after waiting the full growth timer of each crop as indicated above.

Now if you grow weary after all those long hours of working the fields then it may be time to consider [[Mechanized Farming]].
Farming in Medieval Engineers can be done in a couple different ways. First there is [[Simple Farming]] technique that uses basic farming tools that require manual labor. Then once your knowledge becomes greater you can put your engineering skills to the test with the [[Mechanized Farming]] technique to help somewhat automate things.
Keyhttps://medievalengineerswiki.com/index.php?title=Dirt&diff=6916Dirt2017-09-22T18:33:14Z
Key: Def

In Medieval Engineers the softer terrain can be manipulated with a {{Small_Image_Link|WoodenShovel.png|Wooden Shovel}} or {{Small_Image_Link|IronShovel.png|Iron Shovel}}.

When picking up terrain with the shovels it turns into dirt bags that can be used to place down dirt in other locations.

==Example==
First, start by finding a good location that needs to be modified.

[[File:Terraform1.jpg|500px]]

Then prepare the land by placing the Landscape Stakes down.

If there is a large volume needing to be filled in below the desired area it may be a good idea to try to place some of it before connecting the Landscape Stakes.

Landscape stakes can be placed in the ground or on blocks. When they are connected together with ropes they will form a plane that can be used with the shovel tool to create level or sloped ground.

There are two different variations of the shovel, being the [[Wooden Shovel]] and the [[Iron Shovel]]. The wooden being easily obtained and the iron lasting much longer. There is also the introduction of the [[Landscape Stake]], which is a small pen that is placed down and tied together with the [[Basic Rope]]. If you are unsure if you know that knowledge to make these items yet then simply check the {{Small_Image_Link|Medieval Engineers Research Tree.png|Medieval Engineers Research Tree}}.

An example of the terraforming method using the Landscape stakes is shown below.

==Terraforming==
First start by finding a good location that needs modified.

[[File:Terraform1.jpg|500px]]

Then prepare the land by placing the Landscape Stakes down.

If there is a large volume needing to be filled in below the desired area it may be a good idea to try to place some of it before connecting the Landscape Stakes.

[[File:Terraform2.jpg|500px|Staking off the area]]

Now Connect all the Stakes with rope and the area between all the stakes should be white. This will indicate the flat level you wish to create. Allowing for any dirt above this level to be lowered to the height of the white outline and any dirt lower to be raised to the height of the white outline.

[[File:Terraform3.jpg|500px|Confirming the area]]

Now just simply have dirt in your inventory and place dirt while within the white area.

[[File:Terraform4.jpg|500px|Filling it all in]]

Finally once all the dirt matches the height designated. Its now time to test the ramp, or loose your cart while it rolls away...

[[File:Terraform5.jpg|500px|Testing the Ramp]]

The [[Landscape Stake]] can be used to terraform the land and mold it to your will. To allow the creation of nice flat farm, better housing plots, even make your own roads(No they don't count as actually roads but you can make them look exactly like a road in the world.) and so much more, the possibilities are only as limited as your imagination.
Within Medieval Engineers there is actually an engineering aspect implemented while dealing with the smaller dynamic block building mechanics of the game. One of the first tasks a new player will come across is the difficulty of building a cart. This can be a confusing implementation for new players on trying to understand how to properly implement and build a working cart.

==Cart==
To get started with building your first cart your going to need a couple of items. Some timber, at least four catchblocks and at least four wheels. If you are unsure if you know that knowledge to make these items yet then simply check the {{Small_Image_Link|Medieval Engineers Research Tree.png|Medieval Engineers Research Tree}}.

Now after acquiring all the resources needed we can now start to form a cart. The easiest way is to start by creating a support beam to work off of.

Then its time to build the farm of the cart. Imagine it similar to how a basic car frame would be with the wheels. Be sure to '''''change to dynamic building when placing the wheels''''' onto the catchblocks and make sure they are facing the right way onto the catchblocks or there will be drag.

Lastly you can customize your cart with anything you need.

==Catapult==
There are stationary and mobile catapults, a mobile one is just simply built onto a cart in some way. The below example catapult will be stationary. The resources needed to build this catapult will be one catapult bucket, one rope torsion spring, one rope end, one hand crank wheel and one rope drum with a bunch of timber.

First start by building the basic frame.

Then attach the arm and the bucket on the end with the rope end at the very end of the timber arm. Along with a timber and catchblock support to hold the rope drum, along with the hand crank wheel.

Now use a rope and connect the rope end to the rope drum and crank it together to get ready to load and fire.

Finally load the catapult by either clicking on the bucket if you have a [[Large Projectile]] in your inventory or manually load into the bucket.

Now its time to test out the catapult and experiment with different techniques.
