Schematics are drafted on Blank Scrolls. You'll need the Research Table to craft Blank Scrolls.

Making Blank Scrolls requires either Tanned Leather to make vellum or scrapwood to make paper. Put Tanned Leather or enough scrapwood into the Research Table to craft Blank Scrolls out of it.
