Deer are a type of NPC that can be enabled to spawn when creating a new world. If they are killed by the player, they will drop raw meat, deer pelt and deer antlers. However killing one can be quite difficult without the use of a crossbow because if the player gets close to it, it will run away.
Deer do not spawn in certain biomes that are difficult to survive in.
